The Tale of Toad in the Hole
Story updated
Toad in the Hole, sausages baked in Yorkshire pudding batter, has been documented in English cookbooks since the 18th century. The whimsical name's exact origin is uncertain, though it's usually explained as a description of the sausages peeking out from the risen batter, like toads poking from a hole.
