Ingredients

  • 1 kg goat or beef, cubed
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 potatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon xawaash spice blend
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1Place the meat in a large pot with water and bring to a boil, skimming off any foam.
  2. 2Add onion, garlic, and xawaash spice blend.
  3. 3Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes until the meat begins to tenderize.
  4. 4Add the tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes.
  5. 5Continue simmering for another 20 minutes until the vegetables and meat are fully tender.
  6. 6Season with salt to taste.
  7. 7Serve hot as a soup, often with bread or rice on the side.
