The Story Behind It

The Tale of Panikeke

Story updated

Panikeke, Samoan fried doughnuts, reflect the influence of Western fried dough traditions introduced during the colonial era, adapted into a simple, coconut-scented treat. They're a common breakfast and snack food across Samoa, made in home kitchens rather than tied to any single documented origin.
