Ingredients
- 1 lb phyllo dough, thawed
- 3 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped pistachios
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
Instructions
- 1Mix walnuts, pistachios, cinnamon, and cloves for the filling.
- 2Butter a baking dish and layer 8-10 sheets of phyllo, brushing each with melted butter.
- 3Sprinkle a third of the nut mixture over the phyllo, then repeat layering phyllo and nuts twice more, finishing with a stack of 8-10 buttered phyllo sheets on top.
- 4Cut the baklava into diamond shapes before baking.
- 5Bake at 325°F for 40-45 minutes until golden and crisp.
- 6Meanwhile, simmer sugar, water, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick for 10 minutes to make a syrup; cool slightly.
- 7Pour the warm syrup evenly over the hot baklava.
- 8Let cool completely, uncovered, for several hours before serving.
