Bourek (Fried Meat and Cheese Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 eggs, hard-boiled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 package spring roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten, for sealing
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1Cook the ground beef with the onion and garlic until browned and no longer pink.
  2. 2Season with cinnamon, salt, and pepper, then stir in the chopped parsley and let the mixture cool.
  3. 3Mix in the shredded cheese and chopped hard-boiled eggs once the meat has cooled.
  4. 4Lay out a spring roll wrapper, place a spoonful of filling near one edge, and roll tightly, folding in the sides, sealing the final edge with beaten egg.
  5. 5Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  6. 6Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F.
  7. 7Fry the bourek in batches until golden and crisp on all sides, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. 8Drain on paper towels and serve hot as an appetizer.
