- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz penne pasta, uncooked
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan

Instructions
- 1In a large deep skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage, breaking it into crumbles, for 5 to 6 minutes.

- 3Add the uncooked pasta, chicken broth, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes directly to the skillet, stirring to combine.
- 4Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 to 18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the liquid has thickened into a sauce.
- 5Stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- 6Top with fresh basil and serve directly from the skillet.
