The Tale of Vanilla Cupcakes
Story updated
Cupcakes date to early 19th-century America, with the name possibly referring either to the cup measurements used in the recipe or the cups they were baked in; one of the earliest known references appears in an 1828 American cookbook. Vanilla became the classic, most popular base flavor.
