The Tale of Classic Chocolate Cake
Story updated
Chocolate cake developed after cocoa powder became commercially available in the 19th century, following innovations like Dutch cocoa processing in the 1820s. It grew into an American baking staple through the 20th century, particularly after boxed cake mixes made it accessible to home bakers from the 1930s onward.
