Ingredients

  • 5 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. 2Toss the berries with 1/4 cup of the sugar and the lemon juice, and set aside.
  3. 3Pour the melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  4. 4Whisk together the flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and milk, then pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
  5. 5Spoon the berries and their juices evenly over the batter.
  6. 6Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top is golden and the batter has puffed up around the fruit.
  7. 7Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.
