Baked Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk, for glaze

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 425°F and grease a donut pan.
  2. 2Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. 3In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract together.
  4. 4Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
  5. 5Spoon or pipe the batter into the donut pan cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. 6Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the donuts spring back when touched.
  7. 7Cool for a few minutes, then whisk the powdered sugar and milk together and dip the tops of the donuts in the glaze.
