Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. 1Brown the ground beef with the onion and bell pepper in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6-7 minutes, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
  2. 2Drain excess fat, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. 3Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and chili powder.
  4. 4Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. 5Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. 6Toast the buns lightly and spoon the beef mixture generously onto the bottom halves before topping and serving.
