Beef Lo Mein

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 8 oz lo mein or spaghetti noodles
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. 1Cook the noodles in boiling water according to package directions, then drain and toss with a drizzle of oil to prevent sticking.
  2. 2Whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and brown sugar in a small bowl.
  3. 3Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat and sear the beef for 1-2 minutes per side until browned; remove and set aside.
  4. 4Add the remaining oil and stir-fry the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds, then add the cabbage and carrot and cook for 2-3 minutes until just softened.
  5. 5Add the cooked noodles, beef, and sauce mixture to the pan, tossing everything together for 2 minutes until heated through and evenly coated.
  6. 6Stir in the green onions and serve immediately.
